Harvard University is launching a campaign to raise $6.5 billion over the next five years, a record capital campaign that’s more than the school has ever raised.

That amount would top the record for a single campaign currently held by Stanford, which collected $6.23 billion in a campaign that ended in 2011. Harvard’s haul would be used to expand its campus, enhance engineering programs and renovate undergrad housing, according to The Boston Globe.

School officials said Harvard already has amassed $2.8 billion in the campaign’s “quiet phase.” A breakdown of the rest of the money coming in shows that 45% will go to support teaching and research, 25% will go to financial aid and student activities, 20% for maintenance and building projects, and 10% for other programs, according to the Globe.
