The National Weather Service issued a flood warning last night for several rivers in Nebraska. The flooding is moving eastward along the South Platte River, drowning farmland as it goes.

As Nebraska anxiously awaits the runoff from the river, Colorado is still coping with the aftermath of its flash flooding. At least 1,700 homes have been destroyed by the floods and at least eight have died.

Meanwhile 6,400 survivors have already applied for federal disaster assistance, according to the Federal Emergency Management agency.
