When Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and other lawmakers took a helicopter ride to survey the state’s massive flood damage, their trip quickly turned into a rescue mission. Passengers noticed individuals waving to them from the ground, descended the aircraft, and rescued seven people and their pets.¬†With many locations currently inaccessible by road, more than 700 people have needed to be airlifted to safety
