Movie martial artist Joe Son, who starred in the first Austin Powers movie, is facing new murder charges after allegedly killing his cellmate in a California prison.

Son, 42, best known as the shoe-throwing villain “Random Task,” and who is already serving a life sentence at Wasco State Prison after a rape-torture conviction, allegedly killed Thomas Graham, who was serving two years for failing to register as a sex offender. While it is unclear what led to the altercation, officials said Son killed Graham with a series of kicks and punches, TMZ.com reported. Graham’s body was found Monday afternoon and Son, identified as a suspect, was moved to solitary confinement.

Son had been a mixed martial arts fighter with an unsuccessful record of 0-4 before being sentenced to 15 years to life for the gang rape of a woman in Huntington Beach, Calif., in 1990. Prison officials say the severity of the bare-handed murder could weigh towards a decision to pursue the death penalty against Son.
