Boston’s Logan International Airport apologized Wednesday for running a fire drill, which included smoke and flames, on the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The two planes that were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center towers in New York City departed from Logan.
The airport had announced the drill on its Facebook page, and later posted an apology. It also noted that the airport held a moment of silence and memorial on Tuesday.
“This may be the single dumbest, most insensitive admin decision of all time,” one person commented on the Facebook post. Mass. Governor Deval Patrick used similar vocabulary speaking to Fox 25: “It’s just dumb,” he said.
