Nearly one in 10 abortion clinics in the United States have shut down or stopped performing the procedure since 2011, Bloomberg News reports.

The precipitous drop in abortion providers comes amid a hostile political climate for clinics and their allies ever since Republicans took over the U.S. House and many state legislatures in 2010. Since then, more than 200 state-level abortion restrictions have been passed into law.

In North Dakota and Mississippi, the sole remaining clinics are in jeopardy as courts have temporarily blocked state legislation requiring clinic doctors obtain hospital privileges.
