The army psychiatrist who killed 13 people in a shooting rampage at Fort Hood almost four years ago was convicted on all counts Friday and now faces a possible death sentence.

Army Maj. Nidal Hasan claimed that he was protecting Muslim insurgents abroad when he walked into a waiting room and began firing on unarmed military personnel. Since the military court-martial against him began earlier this month, Hasan acted as his own attorney and did not call any witnesses in his defense.

The 13-member military jury must unanimously agree if Hasan will face death by lethal injection, something the government prosecutors have pushed for from the onset of the trial.
