Firefighters Tuesday tried to gain ground against a forest fire in the mountains northwest of Santa Barbara that caused thousands of campers to flee the area and threatened dozens of cabins. According to the LA Times, the blaze burned some 1,800 acres in Los Padres National Forest, close to where the 2007 Zaca wildfire scorched more than 240,000 acres, the second largest recorded fire in California history.
