Before Jopin, Flint, Mich., held the unfortunate title as the last tornado to kill more than 100 people. The twister traveled two miles north of Flushing and hit the north part of Flint before stopping north of Lapeer. The half-mile-wide tornado devastated a one-mile stretch of Coldwater Road in Flint, where the majority of deaths occurred.
