A U.S. soldier faces possible disciplinary action for allegedly throwing stones at a picture of Afghan President Hamid Karzai in an eastern Afghanistan province several days ago.

The provincial government investigated reports of the stoning, and complained to U.S. officials. The U.S. government agreed to pull the soldier out of Kunar province within 24 hours.

He apparently broke the rules:

— First, only infidels can be stoned in Afghanistan.

— Second, Afghan troops may be stoned, but American troops may not.

— Finally, if you’re in Afghanistan working for the U.S. and want to throw something at Karzai, wads of cash generally work best.
