The nationwide battle over gun control rages on, but from May 3-5, about 70,000 members of the National Rifle Association crowded around 550 vendors for its annual meeting at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston.

Within the exhibition hall, supporters of the nation’s largest gun rights group could get a feel for new-model rifles and handguns, have their antiques appraised and listen to speeches by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Despite the mass shootings since last year’s gathering, they expressed continued support for their right to bear arms—echoing the convention’s slogan: “Stand and Fight.”

Please STFU you girly man losers. I've been shooting guns since I was six. Firearms are an American tradition, In fact, the British were on their way to empty out a Colonial armory when the Fighting started. The largest army in the world is composed of the American Rifleman. Brave people with guns are the reason America is free, and be glad for it. There were so many fine people at the NRA convention, women children and a lot of military and law enforcement. To speak ill of the NRA is to insult the people who serve and protect you. Peel the bong away from your wimpy faces and get a clue

The wind, the wind is blowing. Through the graves, the wind is blowing. The wind of change is blowing - thru the graves of twenty tiny Sandy Hook martyrs: Grace McDonnell age 7, Chase Kowalski age 7, Josephine Gay age 7, Daniel Barden age 7, Emilie Parker age 6, Dulan Hockley age 6, Avielle Richman age 6, Jessica Rekos age 6, Caroline Previdi age 6,Noah Pozner age 6, Jack Pinto age 6, Charlotte Bacon age 6, Olivia Engel age 6, Ana Marqeuz-Greene age 6, Catherine Hubbard age 6, Madeline Hsu age 6, Jesse Lewis age 6, Allison Wyatt age 6, Benjamin Wheeler age 6, and James Mattioli age 6.

Each of these twenty children sacrificed their short, innocent lives because the NRA and gun manufacturers paid off our Congress ...paid them off to stop effective gun control laws.

Rest in peace little ones. You can no longer speak to us. For your voices have been brutally silenced. But WE will stand up. WE will be your voice. WE will speak on your behalf, ...and on behalf of all the children that still live and laugh. May your senseless slaughter FINALLY wake America up - so that we take effective action to control guns. We will not allow the children of Sandy Hook to  die again- in our hearts, in our minds, nor in our memories. How many deaths will it take till we know..that too many people have died? The children of Sandy Hook , and all the other innocent victims of guns - will NOT have died in vain. This we promise.

NO MORE INNOCENT VICTIMS!

@StanChaz1 Get real.  There is no stopping an insane person with a purpose.  If not guns then explosives,if not explosives then poison.  Be realistic from reports he went to a room (reported 600 student school) not the entire school and he had been a student there and was mistreated while there.  Connections?

@roknsteve Radical anti-gun types like you who want to take our guns and the final number was 86,500 Patriots in attendance. Also, how many paying visitors showed up at your gun control convention?20, 50?
