A bomb explodes during a concert in Atlanta’s Olympic Park, killing one and injuring more than 100. A Turkish cameraman dies of a heart attack responding to the crisis. During the next two years, three similar attacks rock Georgia and Alabama.
Breakthrough: Jan. 29, 1998
A truck spotted near the fourth explosion site, a women’s health care clinic in Birmingham, Ala., is traced to a man named Eric Rudolph. Within a year, he is charged with all four bombings.
Capture: May 31, 2003
After a five-year manhunt, Rudolph is finally arrested in rural North Carolina, after a rookie policeman happens to spot him in an alley behind a grocery store.
