“There seems to be a belief in some quarters that when it comes to negative impact that sequester will have on our national defense and military readiness, the Department of Defense is crying wolf. Nothing could be further from the truth. What you've heard from DOD leaders over the past few weeks is not hype. It's the blunt truth.”— Pentagon press secretary George Little, responding Tuesday to claims that some in the Defense Department are exaggerating the impact looming budget cuts will have on the U.S. military.
Of course it's crying wolf. Even with those miniscule cuts the budget would still be much, much higher than in 2000. They simply don't want to lose all the money the War on Terror brought them. Not to mention the lucrative defense industry jobs after their retirement.
