Thursday’s roster of Pentagon contract announcements contains this gem:
MIT, Cambridge, Mass., was awarded a $32,000,000 cost-sharing contract. The award will provide for the study, development and creation of equipment and material. Work will be performed in Cambridge, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2017. One bid was solicited, with one bid received. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Research Triangle Park, N.C., is the contracting activity (W911NF-13-D-0001).
How’s that transparency thing you pledged working out, Mr. President?
UPDATE: @inteldump links the above announcement to this contract, which says it’s an “R&D effort for nano-scale material capablities and discoveries.” Nanotechnology involves shrinking physical things. Must be working: the Dec. 28 award was for $80 million, while Thursday’s announcement was for only $32 million…
