It’s tough getting up the week before Christmas to hear of those 10 young Afghan girls killed by a landmine Monday as they gathered firewood in Nangahar province in the eastern part of the country.
One of them reportedly detonated an old mine with an ax. They were between 9 and 13 years old.
“These precious children were innocent victims,” Marine General John Allen said in a statement. “I express my sincere sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of those affected.”
Then you feel guilty because your mind thinks: not as bad as western Connecticut.
