Hurricane Sandy Bears Down on the East Coast

Superstorm Sandy slammed into the New Jersey coastline late Monday, Oct. 29, hurling seawater at cities and towns along the eastern seaboard. In New York City, storm surge flooded tunnels, subway stations and parts of the city’s electrical system. Sandy left at least 50 people dead in her wake in North America, and has put an estimated 8.2 million households without power in 17 states, according to the Associated Press.
