— Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, in an interview with the Boston Globe‘s Bryan Bender, for an interesting Monday profile.
Say it enough and people might believe it’s true, even if it’s not. It is becoming a refrain.
Over breakfast last month, Rep. Howard McKeon, R-Calif., chairman of the armed services committee, said:
I was in a meeting in the Pentagon when General Dempsey looked across the table at me toward the end of the meeting and said `In my 37 years in this job I’ve never seen a time more dangerous than right now.’
Fine. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs can say what he wants. But Battleland wanted to know if McKeon believed what Dempsey said.
Ain’t oversight great?
