It’s a Marine program designed to protect leathernecks from IEDS. It stands for the corps’ Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare – CREW. OK, so they cheated a little bit. This CREW contract just got bumped up to a half-billion dollars: 16.8% of it to be spent in Charleston, S.C., 5.5% to be spent in Twentynine Palms, Calif., and 77.7% to be spend in Afghanistan.

Typical of such contracts, it doesn’t specify how much the contract was before this latest boost. But it does say the increase “provides program management and maintenance technicians to support the CREW systems used in and outside the continental United States.” Hmmm…makes it sound like there are IEDs buried on U.S. highways…
