The UH-1 Huey came of age in Vietnam, where the whomp-whomp of its twin-bladed rotor design was perhaps the most distinctive sound of that conflict. Nowadays, updated Hueys – this would be the N model – are still being flown by the Air Force at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. Their mission: protecting the 150 Minutemen III ICBMs polka-dotted across southeastern Wyoming, northeastern Colorado, and western Nebraska.
