“What you do with cash is you buy consumables…cash is good for…anything…you eat it, drink it or screw it.”

— Scientist Stewart Nozette telling an undercover FBI agent posing as an Israeli spy why he wanted to be paid in cash. The U.S. government calls Nozette, 54, a “brilliant scientist” – he has an MIT doctorate and “sketched out in a burst of brilliance on a paper napkin” the concept for a satellite now in the National Air and Space Museum. Nozette, who worked on satellites and nuclear matters for the Department of Energy in the 1990s, will be sentenced March 21. Most likely he’ll get the 13 years behind bars sought by federal prosecutors. (h/t: FAS)
