Kim Jong-un

The State Department declared Wednesday that Pyongyang has changed its stripes and agreed to suspend its nuclear activities and halt nuclear and long-range missile tests. If true, this is good news for the world and the North Korean people. It is, however, bad news for the North Korean military and U.S.-based missile-defense contractors. We’ve been through similar breakthroughs before, only to have North Korea fail to keep up its end of the bargain.

Key question: in light of this sudden about-face – bound to upset the Korean army — will new North Korean leader Kim Jong-un be alive when the first of 240,000 tons of food aid from the U.S. arrives to help feed his 24 million starving people?
