If you’re a Marine with a coffee table, you’ll enjoy Always Faithful: U.S. Marines in World War II Combat. It’s a collection of 100 of the best photographs of the leathernecks island-hopping across the Pacific, printed in a large format with few words to clutter up the iconic images (no jarhead wisecracks, please). Author and Marine historian Eric Hammel pored over thousands of pictures taken by Marine combat photographers and grouped the best by theme: beaches, jungles, WIA and the fallen among them. Thanks to Battleland’s own Tara Godvin for making this sneak peek possible just in time for the Marine Corps’ 236th birthday November 10. Special bonus: the book was printed in China.
